Why to add chia to your diet

Despite their tiny size, chia seeds are a superfood. They are really high in nutrients, especially in fiber, Omega-3 fatty acids and various micro nutrients. They are the highest plant based source of protein and high in antioxidants as well. Chia seeds do not only deliver a massive amount of nutrients, they also boots your energy with very few calories. The fiber in the seeds help to keep you full. They also have various benefits for health. Chia seeds are really easy to add into the diet because the seeds are tasteless, so they will not affect the flavor of your food. Chia seeds are really a filling breakfast or afternoon snack! Fun ways to eat them, and definitely my favorite, are chia smoothies and chia pudding.

For a chia smoothie mix blueberries (or any other fruit) and 1-2 tablespoons of chia seeds and put it in your fridge. Chia can also replace eggs. Just mix 3 tablespoons of water with one tablespoon of chia seeds.
For a chia pudding you need
  • 250 ml unsweetened almond milk or coconut milk
  • 3-4 tablespoons of chia
  • optional: vanilla, cinnamon, cocoa powder, maple syrup.
I would definitely add honey, vanilla, or cinnamon because the pudding on its own is not very sweet. Leave it for at least 2 hours in your fridge.
